Description
This is the biggest collection of Vinyl Albums I have ever seen. There are over 35,000 albums in this collection and it covers all genres. I am talking everything from Bob Marley to Barbra Streisand to rare Beatles and rare Elvis to classical to blues to pop to jazz, I mean everything. I just inherited this collection from my father-in-law and I now have it in a climate controlled storage. It is in over 400 boxes. They are all in various condition to excellent (still in wrapper) to fair condition (cover is worn). However, the albums themselves are mostly in very good condition as he only bought albums in good playable condition. The bad news is most of the collection was cataloged on a commodore 64 ( those of you under 30, that was like one of the first PCs ever) and the catalog was lost. Over the next couple of months I am going to have to pain stakenly inventory all of them and try and sell them to vintage record stores as they all told me they want an inventory list so they can pick and chose which ones they want. I would rather not do this and just sell the collection as is. This may be one of the biggest and diverse collections out there. It cost me over $2,000 for a moving company to bring them to me so whoever wins this collection we will have to work out the logistics on pick up as I dont think this is going to be a UPS ship. So, auction is going to be a pick up only. If you win the bid I would suggest hiring a moving company as a rental truck may not be able to handle the weight unless you make a few trips. So keep in mind depending on how far away you are from South Carolina the pick up may be costly. I could sell these one by one and probably get $1.00 a piece (not counting the collectibles worth alot of money, which there are quite of few) but who has time for that. So this collection in my estimations is worth at least $35,000. I am going to start the bidding at $7,000 and no reserve and buyer pays all shipping. I will answer any question I can. Because I dont have the inventory it will be hard to answer specific inventory questions but the storage facility is close and he did tag most of the boxes by letter so I may be able to look for some requests but I ask that bidders keep that to a minimum. I also might be willing to show this collection as well to interested buyers only.
